Burkina Faso (called Upper Volta before independence)
lies on the northern border of Cote d'Ivoire, West Africa, also touching Ghana,
Togo and Benin. Its northern neighbors are Mali and Niger which are
predominantly Moslem countries. It is one of the world's poorest countries
where 80% are subsistence farmers in a semi-arid area. There is religious
freedom with 81% non-Christian, 18.4 All Christians and 8.0 Evangelical.
Since 2001 the Church of God has had a vision to enter
this country in the 10/40 window. Larry Sellers from Cote d'Ivoire has already
made 3 survey trips since then. Plans are in place to send a pre-team of
pastors/students to the city of Bobo-Dioulasso for scouting out the area of the
city where the Lord God is leading us to begin a new work. The 2nd
team will join them in a few days time for prayer walking and individual
ministry. We seek a mighty force of intercessors prior to and during this great
mission thrust.Your prayers are critical as we enter the
adversary's territory.
Requests:
- Blessings & God's favor upon the city of Bobo-Dioulasso
- God's people in Christ Jesus in this vast city would manifest his glory in their
daily living
- Everyone in the entire city would come to understand the truth of God as Savior in Jesus
Christ and may be saved soon.
- Travel & stay (safe & sound) for the teams
- Their acceptance by the Christian community
- Compassion & boldness in sharing Christ with others
- Receptive people who need the Lord (Jn 5:19)
- A designated place to begin ministry with those God gives us
- Raising up of leaders to shepherd the new plants
- Financial & prayer support for church plants (local and otherwise)
